It’s interesting the places you find your soul mate.  It’s always unexpected, and always a cherished story.  I found mine in an old friend, someone who had walked beside me for years when suddenly my eyes were opened.  Heather found her’s on a dance floor.  I’m not sure that’s the first meeting for them, but I know they fell in love as they danced.  Full of laughter and fun, it seems dancing is the perfect place to have their enthusiasm for life take expression and lead to love.

I loved the contrast of the embroidered leaves of her dress against the real thing

I must tell you, this is my favorite picture!!  Thank you Heather for being willing to get so close to the bumble bees!

And the one that made her laugh and fall in love…

Isn’t Heather’s look precious?

I love diamonds and flowers, so why not put them together?

I’m into the laughter.  I really am.

Again, another of my favs…

The best way to end is to start where they began.  Dancing.

John and Heather, you are beautiful together and we loved working with you.  Thank you for letting us join in your day!

She calls him Jolly, not only because it’s his last name, but because it’s how he makes her feel.  She laughed as she told me.  And she didn’t mean “bowl full of jelly” Santa Clause “jolly”.  More the “I’ve met my soul mate” and definetly the “I’m in love” type of jolly.  Pretty sure you know what I mean.  And now they’re both Jolly.  Two weeks ago these two love birds tied the knot, and we were invited to caputre the day.  Here’s a quick preview…More to come soon…

The weather was warm and the sun bright.  Pink frills and decorations surrounded the yard, all exclaiming a first birthday was about to be celebrated.  A beautiful cake and appetizers lined the kitchen counter, waiting for the guests to arrive.  The birthday girl was unsure of what was about to transpire – although being one was sure it was all about her anyway.  Her white dress with perfectly pink accents distinguished her as the champion of the party.  A wonderful way to celebrate Kennedi turning one.

After having the privilege to photograph Kennedi’s first year, her parents invited me to capture her very first birthday with a few pictures before the party, and a few during.    It was a ton of fun to be able to watch this little beauty transform over the last year.  I can’t wait to work with her again in the future.  Happy Birthday Kennedi!!

Oh, and I had to show you this cake!  Isn’t it absolutely adorable?

There were a lot of really good guesses.  You are an impressive group!  But only one got it exactly on…The order of my favorites are 1. Les Mis 2. Peter Pan and 3. Crime and Punishment.  Those are some phenomenal works of literature!  Les Mis is absolutely beautiful and artful.  For those of you that have only watched Peter Pan, you’ve got to grab a copy.  I’m not sure why I liked Crime and Punishment so much, but I’ve got to tell you, it is a smart work about politics, although not for the squeamish.  And congratulations to Jaclyn, for guessing them in the correct order first!  You’ve got a $15 Starbucks card coming your way!!!

Elements to achieve perfection.  One:  Freshly ground espresso.  Two:  A deep set chair.  Three: The sweet sound of music.  Four: A good book.  (and it if could all take place in Paris, it would be beyond perfection!).

There is an art to a well written work that I am enraptured by.  The words of a song, the phrases of a poem, the imagery of a scene in a novel can take me captive and not let go.  If a line stands out to me, it will repeat over and over in my mind.  I always wonder where the author came up with a description that could capture me so wholly.

My love for literature finds it’s home in my book club.  A group of friends and I meet together, taking turns at picking the book we read through.  It has been an awesome way to read works that I wouldn’t normally pick myself.  Below are the books we’ve read while meeting together.  And in the list lays our contest!  I have 3 books that are my favorites.  Put them in order of my top 3 favorites, and win a $15 Starbucks card!  Either respond in the comments, or on Facebook.  I’ll announce the winner on Friday!  Good luck! (The titles, in order of appearance below are The Catcher in the Rye, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, The Jungle Books, Peter Pan, Les Miserables, Crime and Punishment, Watership Down)

You couldn’t have asked for a nicer day.  The sun was shining, the blue of the sky was bright as topaz.  It was perfect weather to celebrate Jeff and Jillian’s wedding.  These two lucky ducks had gotten married on a cruise a couple of weeks before, and it was time to party with family and friends.

Don’t you love her shoes?!

I think this one is so funny!

This baby boy was cuttin’ the rug!

Jeff and Jillian, thank you so much for letting us be apart of you celebration!

Carrie, Hannah’s mom, and I were chatting about names after she saw my last post about Calvin.  She was glowing with love as she looked at Hannah, telling me about her name.  “It was right after I became a Christian when I was 17” she said, the sound of the movie “Annie” quietly playing in the background as the older two girls rested after a long day.  “I read the story of Hannah and knew I wanted to name my daughter that someday”.  And so this little bundle of joy bears the name Hannah Hope, after a woman who put her entire hope in God.    A beautiful name for a beautiful girl.

Mother and daughter

This is by far one of my most favorite pictures!

And the Buddha Belly…

Cheethams, thank you so much for this opportunity to work with your little one!  We guys are wonderful!!
