You may have noticed on my Facebook page earlier this week that I drove a complete circle around Washington this week.  Let me tell you, it’s not like driving a circle around Rhode Island.  I was in the car forever!!!  My fear was staying awake, so I decided to try two things.  One, listen to loud music-check.  Cold Play, Jimmy, OneRepublic, MC Hammer, Right Said Fred, they were all with me.  Oh, to be fair, I also listened to Matt Chandler for a few straight hours.  You need to check him out if you’ve never heard of him.  Two, engage my mind creatively.  Ok, now I know if my mom reads this she is going to die, but I decided to bring my Nikon Coolpix P6000.  He’s a little feller, but does a great job.  Anyway, what I decided to do was grab pictures of things I thought might be interesting as I was driving.  I  never took my eyes of the road (well, except when I was choosing shutter speed…yeah, I know mom.  I’m sorry) and grabbed some pics.  I thought for those of you that don’t live in Washington, it might be a fun way to see my state.

I did not list this as part of my “staying awake routine” because this is decaf.  We all know how much good that does.  I am kinda into these Red cups that Starbucks has right now.  I’m not a “heart” girl, but I think I heart these.

Ah Eastern Washington, if you didn’t house my sister, I would wonder what we would do with your brown desert. (do you like how you can see my Google Maps in the window?)

This is my FAVORITE from the trip.  Don’t recognize it?  It’s the Gorge at George.  We over saturated it, but man does it look cool.  It might show up as a canvas in my living room.

The flat desert guarded by mountains has always been strange to me.  I love the contrast as you drive through them into a wasteland (ok, it’s not wasted.  Like I said, my sis lives there).

As you drive up to Canada for the Olympics, stop by and see Bellingham.  It’s such an interesting town.  Here’s the harbor there.  (I did get out to take this picture.  I couldn’t get a good view from the road.  My car was still running though.  Does that count?)

I love this old mural!  Could you imagine someone really looking at you like the kid in this picture is?  I would run.  For reals.  I’d be out of there.

This is the bridge in Kennewick.  Kinda cool, eh?

So, that was my week.  If you’re wondering, the best coffee I had was at Woods, which is a Lynden/Bellingham coffee shop.  I don’t think they have any down south, but if you’re up there, try ’em out!   Happy weekending!
