I can’t wait to get the full post of handsome little Elijah up for you, but I thought I’d better give you a preview. This afternoon was a fun day full of newborns photos and big sisters photos. I only got peed on once (thank you to every newborn client I’ve had to prepare me for motherhood!) and got to dance with a two year old. It doesn’t get better than this. Check in soon for more of Eli and his big sis Grace.

Newborn and 2 year old photos: Isabella and Abigail

Her older sister looked at me with excited eyes and exclaimed “Amba! Baby Iza-bella inside!”. We had just finished getting a few absolutely adorable pictures of Abigail when she heard her sister had woken up. We quickly ascended the stairs to where Abigail’s 7 day old sister awaited her first photography shoot. There is nothing more endearing (and terrifying!) as a new big sister. They are full of love and curiosity as they cuddle their infant sibling. It’s beautiful, until they go for the eyes. They always go for the eyes. But as far as big sisters go, Abigail is going to be a great one. And as far as little sisters go, Isabella is beautifully serene.
Isabella was a wonderful model!
This is one of my favorites!
I LOVE how Abigail is looking at Isabella’s hand
The big sister
Thank you Burlando’s for the joy of working with your family, and specifically your girls. They are such a joy! Congratulations on your newest addition. She is absolutely wonderful!
Kennedi’s one year shoot

The weather was warm and the sun bright. Pink frills and decorations surrounded the yard, all exclaiming a first birthday was about to be celebrated. A beautiful cake and appetizers lined the kitchen counter, waiting for the guests to arrive. The birthday girl was unsure of what was about to transpire – although being one was sure it was all about her anyway. Her white dress with perfectly pink accents distinguished her as the champion of the party. A wonderful way to celebrate Kennedi turning one.
After having the privilege to photograph Kennedi’s first year, her parents invited me to capture her very first birthday with a few pictures before the party, and a few during. It was a ton of fun to be able to watch this little beauty transform over the last year. I can’t wait to work with her again in the future. Happy Birthday Kennedi!!

Oh, and I had to show you this cake! Isn’t it absolutely adorable?
We’ve got a winner, folks!

There were a lot of really good guesses. You are an impressive group! But only one got it exactly on…The order of my favorites are 1. Les Mis 2. Peter Pan and 3. Crime and Punishment. Those are some phenomenal works of literature! Les Mis is absolutely beautiful and artful. For those of you that have only watched Peter Pan, you’ve got to grab a copy. I’m not sure why I liked Crime and Punishment so much, but I’ve got to tell you, it is a smart work about politics, although not for the squeamish. And congratulations to Jaclyn, for guessing them in the correct order first! You’ve got a $15 Starbucks card coming your way!!!

Carrie, Hannah’s mom, and I were chatting about names after she saw my last post about Calvin. She was glowing with love as she looked at Hannah, telling me about her name. “It was right after I became a Christian when I was 17″ she said, the sound of the movie “Annie” quietly playing in the background as the older two girls rested after a long day. “I read the story of Hannah and knew I wanted to name my daughter that someday”. And so this little bundle of joy bears the name Hannah Hope, after a woman who put her entire hope in God. A beautiful name for a beautiful girl.
This is by far one of my most favorite pictures!
Cheethams, thank you so much for this opportunity to work with your little one! We guys are wonderful!!
Calvin: Day 4

Purpose behind names is so important to me. Ask Mike. We’ll be sitting watching TV and I’ll hear a new name, and I have to look up the meaning. And it’s not necessarily the meaning, it can be why you were named something. Like Mike and I’s middle names are both family names, and I love that! So when I learned that the 4 day old I was photographing was named Calvin, and I saw on his bookshelf a work by John Calvin next to “Good Night Moon” I realized he was destined for great things.
And can I tell you I also love taking pictures of newborns when they’re so new! I mean, four days old is right out of the oven! And what a handsome baby at that.
Another smiley one…
I got to admit, this is one of my favorites
To counteract the smiles, I had to show you he was a real baby…
Siegmunds, your son is handsome. And your love for him fills your home. I’m so excited for you and your new family!
Isabelle’s 6 month shoot

There is something intrinsically lovely about spring. Flowers not only bloom on the ground, but they take over the trees as well! Finally you can start leaving your winter jacket on the hanger, and grab a lighter scarf. I look forward to it every year! You can finally let winter go and move into the vibrance of spring.
And to make it even more lovely, add in 6 month old Isabelle. Full of giggles and smiles. It doesn’t feel all that long ago that we were doing her newborn shoot. It’s amazing how fast she’s grown (not like it’s anything new that babies grow, but you know what I mean)! She continues to become such a beautiful girl!
This is one of my absolute favorites of the day….
You got to get some goofiness into every shoot…
Millers, it’s always a pleasure working with you! I can’t wait for Isabelle’s next shoot!
A family day in the park

I’ve lived all of my life in Washington, less college, and I’ve never seen it rain like it has in the last few months. It probably wouldn’t matter to me all that much, except I’m a photographer that likes to shoot outside.
To honor the patriarch of the family, we set up a family shoot with the Holmes family. Saturday was fast approaching, and the rain was stalking our weekend. The only other day I prayed so hard for it not to rain was my own outdoor wedding. Saturday I woke up to the sound of down pour. My heart sank. I drove to Kirkland in the rain, with no sign of it letting up. I pulled up to the park, and suddenly, the clouds parted! It was like my prayers had been stuck in the clouds and finally made their way through! The one hour without rain that day was the hour of our family shoot.
And look at this handsome man! Well worth the rain stopping for…
Thank you all for such a fun day! It was great working with you!
Happy Easter!

I hope you all had a fabulous Easter! Ours was wonderful. We had a great time being with family and celebrating and relaxing.
Many of you have asked about it, and in honor of Easter I’m finally putting it up…Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls I give you the Baby Chick/Easter shoot (and thank you to Providence for teaching me that great line!)!!!
Mike and I had so much fun working with all the families on this shoot! It was hilarious to watch the kids with the chickies, and made for some great pictures! Thank you to all of the families. We had a blast working with you! And a special thanks to our 6 baby chicks for being such good sports. You guys rock. (can you say that to chickens? I guess that’s kinda weird. Whatever).
You’ve gotta love this next one! Jonah really got into the farming motif. Such a “little man”!

Sometimes I wonder if the weather has a sense of humor. Was it a joke that this weekend was as warm as any spring day? I mean, it’s only Feburary! I loved seeing all of my neighbors out in their yards, cultivating the lawns that have gone untouched for so long. All of a sudden the chatter of children on their bikes was filling the streets. Bright clothes and sunglasses came out from hiding. And it was marvelous.
I had to show you these hilarious pictures I took of Sammie, my cousin’s daughter. It’s like she knows how cool she is with her totally pink sunglasses and her blue raspberry dum dum.

Yeah, she knows how to work the camera. Next weekend I’ll have to find my own polka dot shades!
